Description
This beautiful Lola MK1 has recently finished (2006-2008) a fully documented and photographed nut and bolt restoration - literally everything has been done to the very highest standard. Much of the work - engine and gearbox build and setup - was done by the outstanding team at Hall and Hall in the UK, where the car is currently resting awaiting a new owner. The car has had three shakedown races since restoration and prior to that was in a private collection since 1969. The car has unbroken ownership since new. This is a rare opportunity to buy one of these famous cars that will gain entry to the most prestigious of historic events - this car was invited to the Goodwood Revival in 2007 - and benefit from the advantageous exchange rates at present. This car was once the property of period racer and ace Lola Mk1 builder, Mike Fraser. All the other owners since new are known and the car has significant UK period competition history. in 2008 the car represented the Mk1 cars for the Lola factory at the 50th Anniversary celebrations at Le Mans and was driven in the cavalcade by David Leslie's son.
History
Purchased from the factory in 1961 with drum brakes by Nairn Ferrier the car raced in England before being bought by Dennis Kingham in Northern Ireland. He famously crashed the car into Kelly's pub at Dunboyne during the Leinster Trophy races in 1963. The car was bought by Mike Fraser in crashed condition and Arch Motors replaced the front half of the chassis during a total rebuild. When the rebuild was finished, the Lola factory christened the car Chassis 27B and provided the still present replacement chassis plate. The car was bought by the current owner in highly original condition in 2006 after a period of dry storage for more than 15 years. Consequently, a total rebuild was undertaken.
