1967 Austin Mini Cooper ‘S’ Vintage Race Car. Mini Cooper S MKII race car constructed from a real uncut Cooper S street-car shell. Has been a racecar for 20 plus years and has a ton of setup, development and high- end parts. The car has raced with and has a CSRG log book, and has competed in CSRG, SVRA, SCCA (vintage), HMSA and VARA races, including the 2006 Monterrey historic’s (year of Cooper) one of 5 minis chosen, The wine country classic as well as the Sonoma historic festival, VARA British extravaganza and CSRG Charity Challenge(s). The car is well sorted and has undergone a complete engine and suspension overhaul in the last 18 months as detailed below. The recent engine build performed by Se7en Enterprises was a total of $10,000 in engine, gearbox and suspension work. The car has less than 2 hours on the chassis (1 hour on the motor) since this work was completed in October this year. Anything particularly worn was replaced or inspected throughout the car during motor re installation. The body shell has not been cut on this car so door pockets, firewall, engine bay, boot floor and wheel arches are all as original, there is a replacement floor welded into the passenger foot well, and some small damage (from a jack) on the driver floor – there are the usual paint pits and racing scars, a couple of areas of peeling paint. Both sub-frames are the original “wet” converted to dry, both powder coated. There is a huge spares and parts package with the car, and I will not split that. Spares and parts (partial list) 3 full sets of 10”x6” revolution wheels (silver center, polished rim) as seen on the car 1 set of trailer/storage wheels and tires (cosmic MK1) Various Hoosier tires 165/70R10 street TDS – these range from two brand new never mounted to some that just need to be thrashed for a few laps. All are serviceable and useable. Tires on the car have 2 sessions on them. A complete set of 1 ½” SU carbs on a Maniflow manifold ready to bolt on should the race group require SU’s. Original and date stamped glass for front, side and rear 2 sets of spare flared arches (used) Wiper setup and motor 120MPH cooper S speedo, plus various other Smiths gauges Extra headlights. Some Weber and SU rebuild parts, needles etc. Gaskets, bearings, brake parts, suspension parts, spare shocks, spare rear arms, all sorted in track spares. Some plastic crates with tons of “all Mini” parts, a real trove of stuff, some useful some not so….. This car would be welcomed at many, many events and has won accolades from VARA and CSRG for prep and authenticity. The car is prepped as a replica of my father 60’s race / rally hack (err car, they were disposable in those days)!! For you Brits, the rear plate is a copy and does not have a V5. The car has a Ca pink slip and is on non-op with the DMV and has a CSRG racing logbook. Buyer will get copies of setup and lap sheets, photos and other docs if requested. Lap times at local tracks 2.02 at Sears Point 1.58 ish at Laguna Seca 2.20 at Thunderhill And in true BAT fashion I will attempt to pre answer the usual FAQ’s. Could it be a streetcar? - Needs a detune, street tires and complete wiring loom etc to even come close, but anything is possible as it does have a Ca pink slip. Is there any damage? - There is a crease on the scuttle (where a hood pin let go, bye bye bonnet), plus the usual racing scars. Both the front and rear valences are a little bent, but are the originals and are not too bad. Approx. HP? -Brand new engine never dynoded, but 105+ would be expected. Will I split the spares? -No. Are the graphics removable? - Yes, all vinyl, except the roof, which is painted. It has the wrong trunk? - Possibly, it may be a MKIII but it was on the car. The hood is a replacement, but a MKII skin. Is the roll bar legal? - It is in most places I have raced, this is vintage remember!!!! I have never been asked to change or alter it. - Will I fit in it? I weigh 170lbs and am 6 foot, not a problem, you are basically sitting on the floor anyway. Delivery options? - Buyer pays for delivery of the car and all spares and extra items. Car is located in San Francisco’s bay area, buyer is welcome to come pick it up!!!
