This 1977 Formula Ford 1600 ran its first race in 1979. Starting with an SCCA Chicago Regional race on May 5, 1979. went on to race at Blackhawk, Elkart Lake, Mid-Ohio and more running its last documented SCCA sanctioned race in July 1986 as listed in the original log books. Was purchased by Chicago Bears football player #34 Walter Payton and used as a practice car to get him started in his racing career. Chassis is also #34. Walter then retired the car to race Sports 2000 class. The car was then displayed in one of his restaurants (34's in Schaumburg, IL). You may have seen it there hanging above the cash register. During a renovation the car was removed and stored until I acquired it in 2008.
