Description
Silver with black interior. 1989 Carrera 3.2 engine (250+ hp), and 1972 lightweight body
(2370 lbs). Fast - Zero to 60 in about 5 seconds. Can be used as street car and /or race car for PCA Driver's Ed. Only
16,500 miles (mostly highway) since rebuild. The 3.2 engine is one of the best and most durable Porsche has ever built. Engine
has been left "stock" to maintain its durability. Increased power comes from K&N air filter, sport exhaust, race headers and
Autothority DME chip (extra), and no catalytic converter. Car meets emissions test and has low insurance rate ($650yr ).
The car also has "spoilers" (including ducktail) for stability, fire proof race seat, fire extinguisher, and 5 point harness.
Rebuild over 3 year period starting with mechanical Autosports Designs, Minelo, NY. Rebuild included new 3.2 engine with only 21,000 miles, engine wiring harness, flywheel, clutch assembly, racing headers, fuel
lines, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter and mount, oil cooler and oil line, engine mounts, ignition, electric wiring, Motronics
electronic ignition, roll bar, distributor, front and rear torsion bars, front ball joints, upper strut bearings, front stress bar,
Authotority chip, roll bar, SS brake lines, front and rear Bilstein sport shocks, and set ride height, and corner balance. Also,
installed rebuilt transmission and brakes. The S brakes are aluminum calipers, with stainless steel brake lines, "cool-carbon"
race pads, "cool brake" ducting and new rotors.
In the next two years, continued development by Porsche Dealer for brakes and transmission, and car was painted
with rear fender flares and new carpet and glass installed. The original 1972 RS built by Porsche for racing was not a legal street car when new, and now sells for about $60,000. This
car has the same specs -weight to power ratio (9.5x)- as the original RS. Car is in perfect mechanical shape, has excellent
appearance, and has never been damaged. Rebuild cost $31,000 plus body $10,000 (total investment $41,000). Have all
receipts.
