Description

Factory entered under two litre Trans/Am race car for the 1971/72 seasons.

History

Selected by British Leyland's engineering department, the Vitesse (French for speed) was shipped to Triumph Competition Department West in the USA, directed by Californian Kas Kastner. Entered as the Kastner/Brophy Triumph, the Vitesse was the only Triumph Factory competition car in the original Trans/Am series 1971/72. Purchased by several time SCCA National Champion Ric Cline of Florida in 1973 it competed in numerous SCCA National Races and twice at the National Runoff's, finishing fourth on it's best attempt. The Vitesse has had a long and fruitful career in Vintage Sports Car Racing. A multitude of wins since 1988 is highlighted by two Historic Trans/Am Championships and an All Triumph win at Mid Ohio in 1992.
