I am in the midst of restoring a race car which will be ongoing for some time. In order to do the suspension work and body work it required me to mount up the wheels with pretty expensive AVON racing slicks. I am hoping to preserve the tires enough to at least get some test time out of them or possibly even a race when the car is ready. I had one mounted up several years ago and basically shrink wrapped it (released the air or most of the air), sealed it in two black plastic garbage bags and put it in a cool/dark spot in my garage. The tire stayed in really good/soft condition. I may just be kidding myself and have to toss these when the car is ready to go - just trying to save the $350-$400 ea they cost and get some use even if only limited. Any products out there to apply to the rubber to help out?
