1947 Kurtis Kraft Midget Roadster-street legal and registered. These cars were push started and had only one gear forward-they were very short. This car has a self starter, 3 speed and reverse with clutch and an extended wheel base allowing human cockpit space-it is equipped with lights and such. Suitable for Road racing, Hill climbs, sprints, drifting, circle track , parades, and joy rides. Engine is a tuned Studebaker Champion flathead six. 2600cc/169ci 100HP. Offenhauser twin carb set up, Joe Hunt Magneto, Hi-Po cam, header. Mated to a 3 speed and reverse transmission spinning a quick change rear end. The car rolls on Hilderbrand Magnesium smoothies 12 inch with radials, Lug nuts forward, centerlock rears. Brakes are Wilwood calipers and discs (3) all AN lines, bias adjuster 7/8 master cylinder, Broomstick brake lever left side. Suspension Front axle 38 1/2 inches kingpin to kingpin. Adjustable transverse leaf spring, Ford Hydraulic lever shocks AN hardwear, 4 wishbone links to corners heim jointed. Rear is a quick change Winters with birdcages, 12 inch coil over shocks and panhard rod-the increase in wheelbase by 5 inches was a result of using this rear end-and in interior space. Frame Body-Original 2 inch chrome moly main tubes- wheelbase 77 inches. Original alloy panels and fiberglass replacements. Correct cast Kurtis nose grill. Lights, horn, alternator, battery, starter, speedo, tach, oil pressure, amp and water temp gauges. Kurtis Kraft made many of the Indy Cars and about 500 midgets-they were built in Southern California. This car has a race history with 9 time Indy Driver Tom Bigelow who is also a Midget Hall of Fame driver.
