1969 ALFA 1750 GTV/2000 GTAm TRIBUTE RACE CAR

Description:

1969 Alfa Romeo 1750GTV, totally rebuilt to replicate 2L. GTAms & GTVs raced in European Touring Car & SCCA Challenge events 1969-72. Competion Class Winner Alfa Romeo Owners Club National Concorso 2020 Virtual Car Show. 5 speed 2 Weber twin spark now running single ignition. Fully race prepped & track tested, clear CA title.

  • History: According to Adriaensens & Dasse, "Alleggerita" (2d Ed. 2012) pp. 445-9, similar Alfa GTVs were raced in SCCA Challenge events in 1971-2 running single ignition, modified 2 L. engines with 2 Weber 45 DCOE carburetors and 8 spoke wheels by Horst Kwech, Bert Everett and Harry Theodoracopulos. Alfaholics of England parts used in the race engine rebuild of this car included a full piston set complete with wrist pins, clips and rings, plus oversized intake and exhaust valves, connecting rods, lightweight racing alternator, a lightened flywheel, aluminum radiator and MSD ignition set at an 11.5:1 compression ratio. Alfaholics also supplied front and rear suspension parts including anti-roll bars and quick steering arms as well as a 4-Pot Racing Disc Brake Kit and special rotors using Ferodo pads for all four wheels. AR1531225 has Lexan side and rear windows, composite trunk lid, engine cover & flared quarter panels; flip top trunk mounted locking fuel filler, and racing safety equipment including: welded in roll cage, OMP racing seat and 5 point harness, fire suppression system, driver air cooling compressor, etc. It's running on Compomotive ML 8 spoke alloys made in England 15X8 & 15X9 fitted with new Hoosier R7 tires. All four cylinders tested at 190 in the compression test done September 2018 when the car was completely gone through and readied for testing by Alfa Specialist Anthony Remicci of Santo's Italian Car Service, Northridge CA. Complete service included: rebuild & tune both Weber 45 DCOE carburetors & repair linkage, full nut and bolt check, connect drive shaft, drain catch cans and replace all fluids, Flush, refill and bleed cooling system, replace all metal clutch and brake lines and bleed both systems, install fuel pressure regulator, R & R headers, replace exhaust stud & repair exhaust system, replace and adjust both front shocks, fabricate and relocate battery box to trunk and install new Hi-Performance battery, relocate driver's seat 5-point safety harness connections to conform to current race regulations, remove oil pan guard and install front exhaust shield. The car was successfully track tested at Willow Springs Raceway.
