1969 Alexis Mk15 Formula Ford Chassis - SOLD

Description:
This very pretty car was the object of a complete restoration by one of the most well respected vintage
formula car prep shops in the Northeast completed in 1993. The car was taken down to the bare frame and
jigged and checked. All new
hardware and fasteners were used. A new fuel cell and fire system were installed. A fresh uprated
was placed in the car. All wiring and plumbing was renewed. The Hewland Mk8 was completly rebuilt
and donuts and u-joints replaced. All suspension was stripped, magnafluxed, and replated. A new tail cover
was obtained.
History
The Alexis cars were built by Alex Francis and Bill Harris in England. They were successful builders of
Formula Juniors, Formula II, Formula B, and Formula Ford monopostos. The Formula Ford variants are
second only to Lotus in the Formula, being produced for the Jim Russell racing school after he couldn't
strike a deal with Lotus' Colin Chapman. These "Russell Alexis" cars were then followed by the regular
commercial model the Mk 15.
