Description:

This is your chance to own what is undoubtedly the most successful and significant Elva Courier ever built. It is one of only two Factory Sebring Lightweight cars, and it is fully recognized by the Elva Registry. The car was originally built in July 1964 as one of two Trojan Elva team cars and was campaigned in the U.K. during the 1964 and 1965 seasons. It was returned to the Elva factory in late 1965 to be prepared for export to Carl Haas (U.S. Elva Importer) and at this time was converted to left hand drive. It was subsequently exported to Carl Haas in December 1965 and subsequently shipped to East Coast Elva dealer and noted racer Fred Opert so that he could run the car in the 1966 Sebring 12 Hours where it finished a very credible 25th overall ahead of many of the top factory teams and noted racers of the 1960’s (Mario Andretti, Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, Pedro Rodriguez, Paddy Hopkirk, Briggs Cunningham, Jim Hall, Hap Sharp, Bob Tullius, Eppie Wietzes, Bob Bondurant, etc). Subsequently it was raced very successfully throughout a long SCCA Club Racing history culminating with a win at the 2002 SCCA National Championship Runoffs where this incredible 38 year old war horse beat a field of modern sportscars with the latest available technology! The 2002 event featured National television coverage on SPEED channel with coverage by David Hobbs. A complete 15+ page packet of information is available to interested buyers that details the incredible history of this car.
