Description:

Featuring a recent engine rebuild by Crosthwaite and Gardner with brand new head by Tony Mantle, the car had comprehensive winter development work on the suspension and set up with new springs and shocks all round. It was 3rd in class in the BRDC Historic Sportscar Championship 1 May 2004 Donington meeting. This car is the famous chassis 344 which Graham Capel converted into a GT in 1964 and raced with great success with many class wins and 3rd in class in the Redex Trophy. It also has period racing history at Goodwood with its first owner R. Murdoch and is listed as competing in 4 races in 1958 at Goodwood in Barkers definitive book. With its original bodywork unpainted the history of it as a GT is clear to see and deliberately left as it is. It currently runs with a Climax 1500 engine which as a GENUINE series 2 Le Mans it can! However the option is there to convert it back to a GT and have one of the rarest and most successful Lotus sportscars in the historic racing world.
