Description:
One of the first twenty chassis purchased directly from Lotus in March of 1962. Delivered to the Arciero Brothers via John Poselius of Lotus Detroit. This car has been fully restored & updated for current safety regulations by JD & the staff at Front Range Motorsports. Add race gas, check the airpressures & go racing. History researched all the way back to the Arciero's. 15 easy race weekends since restoration with no "enduros", 15 to 30 minute sessions. Pikes Peak class record holder since 1964. Shown twice (2007 & again in 2008) at the Rocky Mountain Concours de Elegance. This year in the special display & tribute to the Unser family (the only car in the display that didn't belong to the Unser Museum in N.M.) The car also holds the current track record at Hallet Motorsports Park, set in 2006 by Dr. Ellis Cahn. Jay Ivey twincam & a stout FT200.
History
Delivered to the Arciero's in 1962. They installed a 2.0 liter Coventry Climax with a Colotti gearbox. First race was the LA Times G.P., Riverside Ca., with Skip Hudson behind the wheel, Oct. 12th 1962. Pacific G.P., Laguna Seca, Oct.21-22nd 1962, Skip Hudson. North West G.P., Kent Wa., Parnelli Jones piloting the car. Car now sports a 2.7 Coventry Climax. Sept 28-29, 1963. LA Times G.P., Riverside, Parnelli Jones. Oct 13th 1963. USRRC, Riverside Ca., Bobby Unser, April 26th 1964 Pikes Peak Hillclimb, Colorado Springs, Bobby Unser. First Place in Sports Car Class, third overall. Breaks record by over a minute @ 13.19.1, July 1964. USRRC, Meadowdale. Al Unser, Aug. 9th, 1964 LA Times G.P. Riverside Ca., Al Unser, Oct. 11th 1964. LA Times G.P. Riverside Ca., Jim Hurtubise. Oct. 27-30th 1965.
