2015 ROLEX REUNION LAGUNA SECA PARTICIPANT. According to John Watson, historian for the Historic Lotus Register, this car left the factory in Chestnut, Hertfordshire on July 23rd 1963. It has been a left hand drive car since new, presumably it was ordered for US competition purposes. This is a best guess based on early photos of the car and the fact that the 7 was one of the few English cars legal to race in certain SCCA classes stateside at the time. From 2000 to 2005 the car was completely stripped down to the tubular spaceframe and restored to as new or better than new in certain circumstances. It was determined that the car would continue to race, this time in historic CSRG and HMSA competition. It was successfully campaigned in 6 events in 2014 alone,racing at Laguna Seca, Sonoma and Thunderhill. Logbook is included. With a bit of work, it is feasible that this car could even be returned to street legal specification. The car has been registered with a CA historic plate. We have a silencer equipped exhaust pipe. Restoration specifics are listed below. . Stripped to bare metal, chassis media blasted, reinforced and stiffened per Caterham competition specs. Finished chassis then set on frame rack to check for trueness. . New aluminum skins for sides and rear. . Tom Crowther race prepped the Cosworth 116E SOHC engine. 135hp @ 7k rpm, 113tq @ 5k rpm. . Pierce Manifolds custom twin 40mm Weber sidedrafts. Retuned summer 2014 by Taormina Imports. . Fully reinforced Triumph Herald rear end w/ embossed housing, 4130 chromoly heat treated axles, Quaife LSD, 4.11:1 rear end ratio. . Custom semi-close ratio Cortina 4-speed tansmission. . Rebuilt steering rack. . Caterham negative camber lower control arms. . Panasport wheels. . Fuel cell. . Battery cut-off. . Accusump. . Custom fabbed roll bar. . Halon fire system. All new or rebuilt: cooling system, generator, oil cooler, oil pump and baffled sump pan, gauges, all suspension and bushings, exhaust, swirl pot, brake and clutch master cylinders, brake lines, rotors and drums, pads and shoes, electronic ignition.
