1960 Lotus Elite (type 14) S1 Chassis - SOLD

Description:
A very pretty example of Chapman's gorgeous and ground-breaking fibreglass
monocoque. To many, one of the most beautiful cars of all time.
Almost unbelievably, here is a Series I Elite in the Northeastern U.S. which has
NOT been converted to a VSCCA race car. This is a largely unmolested right hand drive Stage I
car which has undegone a cosmetic restoration and has very nice paint and interior
trim although somewhat non-original. The car is driven intermittently and has had a
new clutch master installed recently. The car has had a kill switch and full harness
installed for light competition use but the engine is of standard Stage I specification.
The car has been road registered and has full road lighting, wipers, etc., and is
your basic Elite weekend tourer. The car has the original Cheshunt number plate.
The owner is looking to reduce his collection of mostly competition cars and has
regretfully put the Elite on the market.
History
This is the sixth from last Series 1 car, leaving the line on the seventh of June, 1960.
The car was shipped to Jay Chamberlain, the U.S. importer. The history is not known
as no attempt has been made by the owner to research it. The current owner has had the
car for eight years. It was purchased in the Northeastern U.S.
