1981 Westfield Super 7 - SOLD
This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.
Description:
This car possess an immensely stronger chassis than a Caterham or Series 2/3/4
Lotus. A copy of a 1957-9 series 1 Lotus 7, this car is fully
braced and has the stronger 5 link rear suspension of the Series 1 7.
It also features the upper control arm set up which is not integrated into the sway bar
which Dave Bean had been using and selling for years and was adapted into
the Caterhams in 1988. Unlike the Lotus or the Caterham this car
utilizes the transmission tunnel as framed member with a welded
steel transmission mount as opposed to the riveted alloy approach.
The car is almost indistinguishable from a Lotus and stronger than a Caterham.
History
Then English concern Westfield produced Lotus 7 and Eleven replicas of very high quality in the
late 70s and early 80s. A controversial lawsuit brought by the licensed Lotus 7 continuation manufacturer,
Caterham cars, effectively halted production of the Westfield cars which were thought by many to be
superior. This is the 7th of 130 cars produced pre-litigation.
