This Historic Sports Racer was built by Ralph Brunning in the early 60s to compete in Road Races and Hill Climbs in the Colorado Springs area. Ralph Brunning was a well known car builder in the Colorado Springs area having won the world famous Pikes Peak Hillclimb a record eight times in the modified stock car class. The car was first titled in 1964 and is shown in local news articles racing as a Daytona Ford in 1967. Completely restored in the last two years it has a successful history of first place wins in the Historic Class it competes in. A new big block Ford FE engine with in excess of 420 cubic inches gives 450+ h.p. and tons of torque. A Ford toploader built for racing by one of the most respected Ford transmission builders in the country transfers power to the newly built Ford 9inch rearend with Nodular Case, heavy duty bearings and traction lock. The suspension system is new and custom built for the LaDawri. Braking is Historic legal 1959 Jaguar disk on the front with Ford Station Wagon drums on the rear. With the set back allowed by the body style it has 45% front weight and 55% rear weight which gives outstanding handling. This car is race ready with care given to be sure everything is correct for the period, as a bonus it is licensed and street legal.
