Description:

For sale is an '87 VW GTI professionally prepared for SCCA ITB class by BSI Racing and OPM Motorsports. - The cage is a full NASCAR spec building by Stu Bremer at BSI. Each BSI race car starts out by getting stripped to a bare shell and relieved of all its insulation and sound deadening materials. Roll cages are fabricated bar-by-bar, by hand, and welded--not bolted--into the car. - The suspension is Koni adjustable coilovers. My current set up is perfect. People in the car always comment on its amazing handling. The camber plates are custom built and welded to the unibody by BSI - no one ever looks at them in person and doesn't comment on them. This work was done by BSI. - The brakes are full race set up with Hawk competition pads, braided stainless steel brakelines and a new master cylinder. The brakes are amazingly powerful and well balanced and allow you to drive incredibly deep into the corners. This work was done by BSI. - The transmission, gearbox and linkage are all new. Shifts are clean and crisp up and down. This set up was done by BSI and then redone and re-installed when we found a crack in the original bell housing. Needless to say it has received considerable attention and is now perfect. I do not have the ratios handy, but will dig through the receipts for serious buyers. - The electrical system was routed to a central fuse box for easy access. This work was done by BSI. - The motor, header and exhaust is all brand new, built to maximum ITB spec by Tom Fowler at OPM Motorsports. The motor has been properly broken in, throttle response is good it has proved reliable for the three weekends it has been tracked. The custom header and exhaust has just been installed. - The seat is a Kirkey medium and the belts are both 5pt and up to spec. - The body looks good and is all original except for the rear hatch which was replaced years back when the car was still a daily driver. The pictures are pretty accurate - I considered a respray, but have opted to concentrate on quality performance. - The car come with 2 sets of tear drop wheels that are in good shape. One set has yokohamo es100s for rain and the set currently on the car has victor racers with at least 50% life left.

History

Prior to becoming a racecar it was my personal car for 8 years. It has been inspected and is ready to race. The build out has been done in two shops over the past 3 years at a total cost of approximately $13,900 dollars. The car has been on the track 3 weekends at Road Atlanta and one weekend at the new Barber track for BMW schools. This car is fresh, incredibly tight and truly unbelievable on the track.
