Description:
This is one of approximately 150 Westfield Eleven kits built in England from 1982-1985 by Chris Smith at Westfield Cars. Peter Egan of Road & Track, built a Westfield and drove it across country. Google "Northeast by Westfield" That article sold a lot of Westfields and was the reason I bought this car. It was constructed in the US by a vintage racer and used in SVRA in the early 1990's then sold to Illinois where it was assigned a VIN & street registered. I acquired the car in 2001 and drove it on a few track days each year, finally street registering it in Colorado this past July to drive it to LOG 27 in Aspen over 12,000 foot high Independence Pass. It took 1st in the popular choice voting for replicas at that gathering. On Woody Creek racetrack it kept up with several Elises - not bad for a 50 year old design. Also note the signatures on the right inner cockpit bulkhead; Jay Chamberlain was an Eleven driver at Le Mans who became the US importer for Lotus in the late 50's and early '60's, while Mike Costin was an engineer at Lotus in the mid '50's who later became the COS of Cosworth.
