History

In its heyday, the Giulietta Sprint competed in events such as the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio. It also notched up successes in the Coupe des Alpes, at Daytona and the Sebring 12 Hours, collecting nearly 500 wins along the way. Nowadays it is still a great looking and excellent handling car ideal for historic rallying or vintage racing. We purchased this car in 2001 with the specific goal of preparing the car for that year's Carrera Panamericana. The original rust-free car was painted with DuPont Imron paint and professionally preserved and stored by its previous owner in Michigan. The campaign was successful, resulting in a class win in the Sport Menor Class against a strong field of Porsche 356s and one other Giulietta Sprint. We placed 19th overall (out of 76 finishers). The win in the Carrera was documented in a two-part article in Alfa Owner Magazine - Jan and Feb 2002. Copies of the magazines come with the car. The car has been prepared to a high standard and features the following: Mike Besic built warmed-up 1750 motor with twin Webber DCOE 40 carbs (runs on pump gas) Most recent motor rebuild dynoed at PHP in Chicago. 148HP at 6200 RPM (test report available) Ultra close ratio 5 speed gearbox Lightweight flywheel and clutch 2 litre rear end Limited slip differential with extra clutch discs Custom aluminum sump guard (not currently installed) Tilton clutch Headers have jet hot coating 13 row oil cooler Veloce oil pan Aluminum coolant reservoir Flowmaster muffler (loud but not blaring) Dual electric fuel pumps (toggle switch in cockpit for on-the-fly changeover in the event of a failure) MSD Performance ignition with rev limiter Front sway bar Front and rear Koni shocks Rear suspension reaction triangle Adjustable trailing arms 22 gallon fuel cell 4 wheel disc brakes with Wilwood calipers and Tarox rotors Tilton remote brake master cylinder assembly with in- car adjustable bias Custom roll cage with helmet hangers Dual fire extinguisher mounts (currently only one extinguisher fitted) Racing seats and harnesses with driver's side adjustable slider Helmet communication intercom system (needs repair) Competition gauges Moto Lita steering wheel Interior and exterior kill switches.
