Description:

This is my freshly restored 1964 Bill Thomas Cheetah. The car has recently been displayed at the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles as well as won and award at the Ault Park Concours and successfully competed in an SVRA vintage race as well as holding an SVRA log book. The Cheetahs are a long love of mine and when I was finally able to find one, was very keen on preparing it as period carredt as possible to represent what they originally were. Most Cheetahs either real or replica rarely seem to be prepped this was. Also, of great importance, the car comes with the period Corvette 327 ci, 350hp engine (good running order) that came out of it with an original twin throat Rochester Fuel Injection system as the racing Cheetahs ran in period. Rarer than hen's teeth.... the FI system found its way onto a McLaren that ended up in England, before I bought it to either stay with or be restored for the Cheetah. Currently the car is fitted with a Chevrolet 383 stroker engine with Weber carbs. This engine was built in such a manner that while it dyne's at over 430hp and 460 ft lbs, it can be ran on pump gas, it is under stressed, idles nicely, an dmay be enjoyed on the street with no overheating. It is quite a lot of fun o the street and i have driven it many times including big city traffic and the highway. Everything with the restoration is very fresh with only some street driving and one race weekend on it. The engine, Muncie M21 gearbox, rear diff, brakes, bearings, etc, etc, are all rebuilt with the restoration. The car is currently vintage race legal, with fuel cell, electric cut-off switch, on board-fire suppression system, modern aluminum radiator and fan, alternator, period grilling reservoirs, etc, etc. I am running 1965 Corvette disc brakes with special upgraded period calipers for racing. The brakes are nicely behaved on the street as well. The lights are wired and it even had turn signals. The car drives well and is not as diabolical as racing lore would have you believe although it is at least as exciting. I'm happy to give advice to the new owner regarding racing the car if that is their intention. THere are baffles built into the headers to quiet it enough for street use as well. The car is not one of the new continuation cars. Cheetahs were not numbered at the factory and it is only possible to concretely verify a few of the cars. I am unsure of the pedigree of this car and therefore can only rightly call it a "bitsa" . That being said, the car is spot on and has been accepted to numerous concours and is certainly allowed to vintage race. Preparing it to the original intention of the Cheetahs and the time period has been very important to me and the car has been well received indeed! As an enthusiast I will consider part or full trades, but give priority to a strait cash deal. I am happy to help coordinate shipping and will keep the car safe until it is picked up. I also have a title for the car so it may be enjoyed on the street.
