Description:
Starting out as a 1991 Turbo S. The car was transformed into a full blown GT2 EVO Turbo by Champion Porsche, Porsche Motorsports North America, Andial, and Mike Colucci Racing. Upgrades have included an Andial 962-type motor with a flat fan 3.6ltr displacement, individual throttle bodies, and a single tubo (+-700hp depending on engine management map and fuel) Engine management is cockpit adjustable with EFI and Stack modules and Stack Dash. Fuel mixture is also cockpit adjustable. Only two of these motors were built- the other is at PMNA. The body panels are Kevlar/ Carbon Fiber. Full Nascar style cage. Racing ABS 15" front rotors and 13.75 rears . Front and rear adjustable camber boxes and sway bars. Front and rear suspension mounts would support a tank. Other features include: oil and trans coolers, Bilstein remote reservoir gas shocks, air jacks, removable steering wheel, central fire suppression, Wired for 2-way radios, Sparco EVO seat Sparco Belts, BBS 3-piece wheels. Spare body parts and 2 extra sets of wheels are included with setup information and contacts with former owners, crew chiefs and suppliers. The car is very well mannered and easy to drive. Unlike 934 & 935 predecessors, turbo uptake is predictable. Handling is very stable, with an extremely firm ride. The braking is almost formula car in quality. The racing ABS and 15" front rotors combine for amazing deceleration. This car would make an important addition to any Porsche Collection with unbroken history from MSO delivery in 1991 to present. History
This car began its racing career as a 1991 Porsche Turbo S factory race car built to participate in the IMSA "Supercar Championship Series" Original MSO shows delivery in May of 1991 to John Wood Porsche. Wood campaigned the car in '92 and '93 with primary sponsorship from Fuji and Wonderbread. Nick Hamm and Jeff Purner were the primary drivers In 1994 the car was sold to Champion Porsche, the largest Porsche dealer in the World. Enjoying a substantial racing budget, Champion, with the assistance of Porsche Motorsports North America, Andail, and Mike Colucci Racing transformed the car into a GT2EVO. Champion competed in the IMSA Exxon Supreme series in the GT1 category with primary sponsorship from HH Brown shoes and STP from 1994-1996, highlighted by a class win in the '96 sebring race. Champion also spared no expense when it came to hiring drivers, including among many, Derek Bell, Hans Stuck, Brian Redman, Juan Fangio II, Dorsey Schroeder, and Thierry Boutsen. In 1997 the car was sold to Ed Davies who continued the IMSA history with sponsorship from the 'Fantasy of Flight" museum. Scott Goodyear and Arie Luyendyk joined Mr Davies in sharing the driving duties. Since 1997 the car has participated in several vintage events including Rennsport I. Over the years, the car has enjoyed a great deal of press coverage, including "Porsche Sport' '93-'97, "Porsche 911 In Racing" and "Porsche Turbo USA" and has appeared in film coverage of the Daytona 24 Hours races'94-97 and Sebring 12 Hours in '94-'96 as well as in the ESPN coverage of Rennsport I in 2001.
