1980 Ralt RT5 Formula Supervee, Chassis # RT5-190. Some consider the RT5 to be one of the best handling cars ever built by man! The car was restored to as raced in 1980 specs, and includes a fully rebuilt 1600cc VW engine with 15.5:1 compression ratio, 8mm Lucas mechanical fuel injection, and it's original 6" and 8" magnesium tri spoke Dymag wheels. Car has had a 3 year ground up rebuild, with test time only, and is ready for it's next owner to perform final sorting and development. The list of what has been done to the car is way too long to list here, but basically every nut, bolt, and system on the car has been inspected, restored or replaced as required. I'd be happy to share that long list with interested buyers. Car was originally purchased by Austrian Walter Lechner in the spring of 1980, and raced in the 1980 European SuperVee Championships. Later that summer, Lechner purchased a second car (RT5-196) and hired young Austrian hotshoe Peter Schindler to drive as a second driver for the Lechner Team (See picture of 2 orange cars). Lechner went on to eventually win the 1982 European Supervee Championship, and in one of these 2 chassis. So, there is a 50% chance this is that car. Further research needs to be accomplished. Lechner is still with us and owns and runs a Porsche Super Cup team in Europe.
