Historically significant Super vee. 1979 Ralt RT1, driven by future champ car Star Michael Chandler. This was Michael's first formula car. CHASSIS RT1- 144. This car was imported by Penske racing and Derrick walker for Otis Chandler the LA Times Owner. Michael went through his drivers school with this car and started his pro career with this race car. he had great success and won one of the Oval race that year in his rookie year, beating the future SV champion Dennis Firestone. Excellent documentation of purchase with letter between Otis and Derrick. Also original log books, and Copies of results, purse checks and money won during the 1979 race year. Car also has the original drawing of March Aero mods to make Speedway noses versus road course noses. Celebrated mechanic Wilbur Bunce maintained this car for the first owner Otis chandler and the second owner JW Mitchell. One of the most well documented race cars we have ever seen or owned. Very period correct and not much use in the last 30 years. Car does need a full restoration, but everything is here and runs in its original and unmolested state.


History

Ran the entire 1979 season in both the SCCA road race series and the USAC oval series. Top 5 in just about every race, and race winner once.Performance Data
