Description:
This engine is from a Lotus Elan that was used for slalom racing and a few Solo I events. Many best time of the day trophies were won. It was originally built by Hutchison Racing Engines and originally the dyno readings were 175 hp at 8500 RPM with 153 ft-lbs of torque. Subsequently, the cams were changed to Cosworth L1, the venturi size enlarged to 36mm, and the dry sump added. I would estimate that the power increased to 190-200 hp. It is a very streetable engine and ran on the street as well, much to the dismay of many Porsche drivers. It was running nicely when it was taken out of the car approximately 2 years ago. It makes the Elan into an incredible machine.
