Description:

We have the pleasure to present this genuine 1965 Elva MKVIII with chassis number 80-011 for sale on behalf of its current owner.

It is important to note that 80-011 has continuous and clear ownership history from new and still has its original tub and chassis plate ! This car was delivered in August 1965 to Carl Haas by Elva. Car sold the car to Ralph Scott (Chicago) who immediately resold it to Frederick B. Ashplant (New Jersey).

Raced by Ashplant in following events :

  • -  Nassau 1965, DNF

  • -  1966 USRRC : races in Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Bridgehampton

  • -  Malboro 1966, Ashplant, Race # 27, 1st over all (lap of honnor with course director and checkered flag).

  • -  CANAM race in bridgehampton 1966

  • -  Won NEDIV in 1966 beating Ed Hugus and barber.

    • -  Johnson Wax Canam Promo with Stirling Moss at Tavern on the green, N.Y... Moss drove

      #80-011 around Central Park in April.

    • Not driven in 1967.

      The car was sold to Edgar I. Broadhead, Jr in late 60’s, who had the car painted yellow and changed the gear shifting to right hand shift It was raced by Broadhead at Bryar Motorsport Park, New England in regional and national events from May 1972 up to september 1975. Sold in 1976 and Antonio Larosa and Giancarlo Magliochetti. Sold to Robert PerronJr. Who raced the car at Bryar, Watkins Glen and Lime Rock National races from 1979 up to 1981.

      After, the car was sold to Murray Wivell he started the restoration of Elva #80-011 in the winter of 1992. Upon completion he entered the car in many Vintage races from 1992 up to 1999 with the car being driven by Walt Mackay. In 1999, Murray then had the car repainted and refreshed. Sold to John F. Coghlin in February 2001.

      Coghlin raced Elva #80-011 once at Gingerman VSCDA historic historic event, July 2001.

      After 40 years in the USA, Elva #80-011 was sold to Marc Devis, Belgian owner in 2004 and brought back to Europe. A full mechanical refresh was done on the car in England by Hadfield.
