Description:
Comprehensive restoration. New: tubular space frame, all new bodywork from original Ginetta molds, plumbing, wiring, fuel cell, instruments all new. Recent rebuilds on engine and gearbox. Very well sorted, fast and beautiful open sports racer capable of winning in any field of comparable cars.- History: Ginetta built seven of the G16 model specifically to compete in the European 2 liter Championship in 1968. It's primary competitor was the Chevron B6/8. Of the original 7 cars, two were factory entries running BRM 2 liter V8s, two were Climax powered, two were BMW powered and one was powered by a Cosworth FVC. Interestingly, the Walklett brothers, founders of Ginetta had done a deal with Gold Leaf tobacco for sponsorship of the G16s which was snatched away at the last minute by Colin Chapman of Lotus. Without sponsorship, the cars never reached their potential.
- Recent Competition History: Over 13 years of vintage racing there have been many class and group wins and podiums. Winner of SVRA Group 5 championship as well as the overall Endurance Race Championship.
