Description:
With the exception of the Formula 1's and the Formula 5000's, this was the fastest car of the late 60's and early 70's. This BT-35 restoration began on the east coast with noted restorer Dave Irwin in 2004. Dave crack-checked the frame, had it powdercoated, crack-checked all the suspension and had it nickel-plated. The present owner bought the car in 2006, and continued the restoration, the acquisition of all missing parts, the restoration of the body, rewiring and plumbing. The Cosworth FVA is a very special engine. It was sent to Dave Vegher at Veloce Motors in Petaluma, CA. Dave is the premier builder of race engines on the west coast if not the US. The 1600cc fuel injected Cosworth produces 237 HP @ 9,300 RPM. (Dyno sheet available upon request). Pound for pound, it is one of the most powerful engines of this era. Over $30,000 was spent on the engine alone. In March of 2006, the car was turned over to Louie Shefchik, owner of J&L Fabricating, one of the finest race-car shops in the country. Louie and his team handled the final assembly, engine install and set-up. There are five hours on the engine as a result of one race weekend for testing, tuning and set-up. Mag wheels are all new and polished. Tires are new. This is virtually a new car from every nut and bolt. This BT-35 is shown with wings, but has a new, non-wing nose which makes it CSRG qualified. Best of all, this car is a dream to drive. All of the Brabhams of this era are user-friendly and this BT-35 is no exception.
