Description:
This car is a Formula III 1957 Cooper Project car I purchased over a decade ago. Other priorities and projects kept me from doing anything with it. It would be a cool way for someone to get into vintage car racing for about 5000 UK pounds. A Cooper "expert" told me this car was listed as sold to someone named Howlett and no engine was listed. A Norton engine was the most commonly used engine in that time frame. I have no information on the cars racing history. From the images one can see the tail got "bobed" and the nose sheet metal took a hit. The breaks were undergoing work when I got the car and the shoes were in a box with some other parts. I beleive the Engine to be a BSA 500 cc Goldstar B50 SS based on markings and some "Internet research" on the internet. It has an Amal carb.I don't know if the engine was set for gas or alcohol. Good references: Sports Cars Illustrated Feb 1959(I have a copy) www.500race.org/ www.500race.org/Marques/Cooper.htm frankracing.com/contact.html
