Description:
This is a very nice car. It was taken down to the frame in 1998. The frame was stripped and powder coated Mercedes silver. At that time the transaxle was sent to Taylor engineering and totally rebuilt. All the nuts and bolts were replaced including all the heim joints on the car. All new bushings and sleeves were replaced. The car is like new. We also had both sets of four spoke aluminum revolution wheels chromed to give them everlasting shine. All the suspension components were crack checked refinished whether that was new chrome or nickel plate or just sandblasted. This car is one of the nicest formula fords running today. It is a dream to drive and never surprises me. The car has always run at the front of the pack.
History
The car was originally a Crossle team car in Europe where it ran the 1969 formula ford challenge. Brian Nelson drove it that year where it won numerous races and also came into a few third places, it was always on the podium. In September of 1970 the car was shipped to Bill Shaw of Pacific Crossle, the U.S. importer. He ran it in many races and then sold it to Rene Gimenez in Valencia California. After a few years running SCCA club Dave Freitas bought the car and performed a frame up restoration. He ran the car in SCCA and VARA. Dave drove the car to many victories and still holds some fast laps. In 1997 Dave won the SCCA pro vintage race set pole and got fast lap of the weekend. He also won W.I.R with VARA also setting fast lap. In 1998 the car was sold to me. We did another frame up restoration and have raced it since then. The car has never been in any bad crashes or had frame damage. We have all the original log books and you can get history from Pacific Crossle which we have as well.
