Description:
The Elva Mk7S is well known on both sides of the Atlantic and is a most competitive contender in sports car
racing. This particular example was the subject of a complete restoration by Elva Racing Components Ltd (UK) in
the early nineties. It has been maintained to the highest standards ever since and has been successful in
endurance racing in Europe. It comes with a Lester Owen 2 litre BMW engine and current FIA papers.
History
Elva (a name derived from the French "Elle va" = "She goes") was a successful car constructor in the late fifties and early sixites, and certainly a force Lotus drivers had to
reckon with as the well built and efficient sports racers proved more than a threat to Colin Chapman's production. Elva produced 69 Mk7s between
1963 and 1965 and this particular car is the 46th . It was built in 1964 and delivered to Car Haas who was Elva's distributor for the USA.
Many different types of engines were adapted to the cars including Coventry Climax, Ford, Lotus Twin Cam, Porsche, and BMW. One car was even fitted with an Osca
engine. The car was bought in the States by Allan Miles who raced it there a few times and then brought the car to the UK to have it restored by Elva Racing Components Ltd.
