1973 Lola T340 - SOLD
This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.
Description:
First customer example of the very popular and successful T340 series. Race ready. Frame up refurbishment by owner in 2001 with one season of racing following. Zero time 112HP Ivey, iron head. Porter fibreglas bodywork in 342 style. Original 1973 bodywork, snorkles, belly pan, and misc bits included as spares. Several gearsets included. Subtle chassis stiffening to high standards make this a very competitive car. Legal for VARA and other forward-thinking organizations. Great fun and a predictable, forgiving car to drive.
History
First T340 in the States, and the first production customer car off the "assembly line". Chassis #1 is believed to be in New Zealand and was actually a modified SuperVee. This car was supplied to Pierre Philips (the dealer) via Carl Haas (the importer), and sold to the first owner on time payments(!). Remarkably, the original engine block and gearbox have survived, and are in the car presently. Stiffened many years ago to high standards of workmanship by Spence Stoddard, 3700 ft-lb/deg. Snorkle-era photo is during the initial aero testing by the first owner, a Boeing engineer. The notes he took are part of the provenance included with the car. Always a Pacific Northwest car, it is well known in the region. 1999: Purchased by current owner; 2000: Novice season; 2001: Club Ford season, vintage events; 2002: Idle; 2003: New Ivey engine installed
