Description:

This freshly restored 1967 Lotus Elan Coupe is ready to go. Two owners ago this was a very competitive active autocross car. The previous owner changed it into a vintage racer. He rolled the car at a VSCDA event at Blaclhawk Farms. He spent $20,000 for construction of the KILLER VINTAGE RACER.The Elan now has a new stiffined 26R style frame and full chrome moly roll cage. This car is solid. He sold the car to me in boxes to pay for his kids college tuition. The frame has a polyester powder coating on it. I have added a larger lightweight aluminum radiator and oil cooler with an electric cooling fan. The suspension pieces are fabricated and adjustable not like the stock stamped nonadjustable ones. The car has front and rear sway bars with adjustable rear brake bias. The rear axils are solid with CV joints instead of hollow tubes with bubber donuts. These are hooked to the aluminum Lotus rear case that has a Quaife rear end in it. The driver sits in a fiberglass racing seat with 5 point harnesses and uses a demountable racing steering wheel. There is a dry sump oil system for the motor and new RCI fuel cell with an electric fuel pump. The Elan has a custom composite dash board an a fiberglass dash pad. The electrics now have a single wire 105 amp GM style alternator,(instead of Lucas 34amp.)The defroster and wipers were left in for spring and fall racing or street use.The Elan now has 26R style headlights to save weight and space for larger the radiator. The car has run VSCDA events with the current wheel flares. The vehicle has street legal lights all around and a horn. The Elan has been lowered to racing ride heights and has only a test day to check the setup. The car handled great, but does need a rear view mirror and new tides.
