Description:

I found this car in a barn while I was living up in Canada. It is a real barn find and I have the pictures of us removing it from the barn! It ran the Bulova FF series in Canada in 1969 and 1970 and was sold to the previous owner at the end of that season. The new owner never got a competition license and the car sat in the barn until I found it. Since the car was basically non-updated for 40 I started its restoration with authenticity in mind and not creating a car that is competitive by today's standards. The car was stripped down to the frame and every part that was reusuable was rebuilt/refurbished and used instead of being replaced by the modern equivalent. I have also saved any part taken off of the car that could not be reused or salvaged. The car still has the original canister oil filter, three sets of period steel wheels that came with the car, the original steering wheel, body work, seat, oil cooler, radiator with the Schrek tag, rebuilt original shocks, weber carb, header, Hewland gearbox, Holbay oil pump and valve cover, gauges, dry sump tank and mirrors. The engine is a period accurate Cortina motor that was built by BritWest in Canada. The engine has dyno time only and is in perfect condition. The gearbox was sent back to Hewland and gone through completely. The only modifications I have done to the car were to extend the roll bar, install a fuel cell, and repair the right lower frame rail that had split due to freezing. The suspension has all been replated using the Lotus correct nickle plating not chrome. All of the serial numbers are correct as verified by the Lotus Formula Ford Registry. The suspension springs have been replaced. All of the parts needed to finish the car are there. All you need to do is finish the plumbling and electrical and do the body work. I also took numerous pictures during the disassembly process and have them on disc. This maybe the most original Lotus 61 availble today.

History

This car was raced in the Canadaian Bulova Formula Ford series in 1969 and 1970. It has not been raced since. The car's frame was painted black originally which was unusual for Lotus. The car's wheels also have Lotus center caps which were usually only present on their show cars.Performance Data
