Description:
A beautiful rebuilt and restored early 7 fitted for both road legal and competitive vintage racing. ---------------- Restored in England many years ago, currently registered for road use in Connecticut, long VSCCA and SVRA race history. Including two pole positions and one win at the prestigious (and very demanding) thru-the-streets Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. ------------------ Choice of engines: either full race 948cc (for VSCCA), high compression pistons, 1100 rods, steel straps, gas flowed head, balanced, race cam, etc....OR....similarly prepared 1275cc engine (for most historic race groups or road driving). Both with twin SUs and tubular race headers. ------------------- Straight cut close ratio rib case transmission, 4.22 diff, 9" finned alloy drums, dual master cylinder, front control arms modified to allow camber adjustment, fuel cell, battery switch, oil cooler, roll bar with removable front brace (for road use), muffer and straight pipe, rev limiter, new Spax adjustable shocks, the list of items for racing is extensive. --------------------- And for road...comes with an original windshield assembly, working lights, charging system, electric cooling fan, horn, wipers, etc.....passed Connecticut inspection and is still road registered. --------------- AND.......immaculate...beautiful chassis and suspension detailing, polished alloy body with painted alloy nose and cycle fenders, rewired, new hydraulics, custom made stayfast cloth tonneau (black with red piping), Aeroquip brake lines, Dunlop L series tires for racing and Pirelli road tires,,,,everything for true multi-purpose use. ------------------- As a road car, show car, and competitive race car, this 7 does it all. And does it all very well. From my own experience with a virtually identical car (which I have owned for 31 years), there is no better road-race car.....my own car is fitted with a heater, full weather equipment, even a radio. And I have driven it in the snow, in the winter, in rain, and even from our office in Stratford to Lime Rock, 80 miles away. Raced, won, and drove home. ------------------------ Well driven, these cars are fantastic performers especially on slow, tight road courses. With my own car having beaten (at several runnings of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix) all but maybe one of the Lotus 18 Formula Juniors, all of the Lotus XIs, and all of the Lola Mk Is. Amazing for such a road-able car. But the records speak for themselves....if you want a super competive vintage racer you can also drive on the road, there is nothing better than this car. ------------------- This car has a VSCCA log book, had also raced at the Jefferson 500 at Summit Point, Tremblant in Quebec, Lime Rock, and many other race circuits (all with a high degree of success) and is ready to race.....ready for a season of countryside driving.
