Description:
This 1961 Lotus 18/21 was built for UDT Laystall. It was built as a Formula 1 18/21 and is not
an upgraded F1 or F2 18. It features the smoother 21 bodywork and the top link rear suspension.
Laystall worked with Hewland to develop a Formula 1 gearbox, the HD5 (Hewlands first purpose made gearbox)
and this car ran with one of the prototype HD gearboxes, as well as a Colotti. It is now fitted
with an early HD5. It has a fantastic period racing record, and was driven by many famous drivers.
It has been completely rebuilt and raced successfully since then, accumulating an impressive
Hitorics record.
