1971 Lotus Type 69 Formula 3 - SOLD
This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.
Description:
This beautiful car had a complete frame-off restoration to no-expense spared standards by
renowned English restorer Peter Denty in the mid '90s. The car is expecially notable in having an
absolutely correct 1972 F3 spec Novamotor restrictor twincam featuring Kugelfisher mechanical injection
mated to a Hewland Mk8.
The car is otherwise identical in specification to a Lotus 69 Formula B and could easily be configured
as a Formula B by substituting a full race twincam and optionally an FT-200. The value of the Novamotor in the
car probably exceeds that of a conventional twincam and the owner might be of assistance in finding a
buyer for the Novamotor.
History
The oral history of the car identifies it as ex-Rikki von Opel, who would have raced it in
International F3 in 1971. The car was sold by Ari Luyendyk's father to Peter Denty, who sold it to
a German customer for the German open. The car then came back to Peter and from him to the current
owner.
