The WSR race car was designed and built by Smart Performance Products Inc. in Vista California from 1994 through 2000 with the vast majority of the cars being built in 1994. 105 total cars were built. In South America the car was raced in a newly created WSR spec class and in the USA the car was raced in SCCA CSR class and subsequently in the equivalent vintage classes.
