History

The Formula Junior was initiated by Count Giovanni Lurani in the late 50's. The cars had to weigh at least
400kg and be made up from mechanical parts of Italian street cars. Autosud was aproject of a Italian prince.
The construction was quite revolutionary, FIAT 1100cc engine in the front, FIAT 600 gearbox in the back,
turned over 180 degrees to obtai independent rear suspension. In the middle of the car, left and right from the
driver, two fuel reservoirs. This setup made the weight evenly distributed. IRS was not common in 1959 most
of the Formula Junior's had live axles. This one was raced in hillclimb competitions, but was not fast
enough. The chassis construction was too solid and the car too heavy. The Italian prince lost his interest
in building race cars, 3 cars were built this car is number 2 and the only one in running condition.
