Description:
Spec Racer is the most popular club racing class in the SCCA. Originally
known as Sports Renault the class has switched from the original Renault powerplant
and driveline to the current Ford unit, with appropriate updates. A true spec class
with sealed engines and fixed gear ratios the class has been the province of epic
drafting battles and huge swarms of paint swapping SR's and now SRF's. Endowed with a stount chassis designed to protect the driver from side impact
and a very rearward and increasingly hefty power unit, the cars feature a relatively
high polar moment, contributing to their nickname of "spin racers".
History
The car has a career total of about forty races, being almost halfway through
it's second logbook.
The car was completely gone through in 1995 and updated to Ford spec. It has
recieved all updates since. It has only 5 weekends since the update and is in excellent
condition.
Competition History
In it's only outing last year it finished 4th at the Bridgehampton National
with a rusty driver who had not seen the track before.
