1972 Royale RP16 Formula Ford - SOLD

This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

This car is currently in race ready condition and campaigning as a Club Ford with the SCCA. It meets
current SCCA safety specs with a higher dash hoop and forward stays having been fitted. It also runs
aluminum side panels with the original side rad placment being moved lower into small pods. The original
fibreglass side panels are still with the car and it could conceivably be back-dated to original trim
for historic racing. The second action photo shows the car with the original rad location and fibreglass
side panels. An interesting history makes restoration to original condition a real possibility.
Currently running an original Cortina, the car is also available as a roller.

History

The Royale concern, originally an English company, is still in operation in the US. Royale produced the
RP16 for 1972 and 1973. One of the first
side rad cars it started at trend which was to continue to the present, earlier designs having relied on
a traditional front rad placement. A competent interim car, it kept Royale afloat until they unleashed
the all-conquering RP21. Royale US can supply original bodywork for this car for $1200.
