History

Turner Sports Cars was based in Wolverhampton, England and was founded in 1950 by John
H. (Jack) Turner who had previously manufactured wheels and other racing components. The cars
were designed and built by Jack Turner. A total of about 670 cars were built from l95O to 1966
when production ceased. A feature of all Turners was a simple yet strong and effective chassis
constructed from large diameter steel tube. The body on all models was comprised of a glass
reinforced plastic (GRP) outer skin over a sheet metal inner body with aluminum doors (aluminum
outer skin stretched over a GRP inner molding) which sat atop the chassis. Independent front
suspension and rack and pinnion steering was based on BMC A Series components featuring pressed
steel wishbones with coil spring/damper umits. Rear suspension used a BMC A-Series live axle
coupled with multi-leaf transverse torsion bars and telescopic shock absorbers. The axle was
mounted on twin lower trailing arms wsth the transverse location being by Panhard Rnd.

Competition History

The car has been campaigned for the last two years by its current owner in
approximately 10 races primarily in VSCCA and SVRA events. The car has won VSCCA events
at Lime Rock and Mt. Tremblant and has been a consistent top 3 finisher in VSCCA events against
Alfas, MGA's and Lotus 7s. At this year's Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix the car finished 3rd and
turned the fastest lap in it's race. The car finished 1st in class and 10th overall in Group I in the l996
SVRA Blue-Gray Challenge at Summit Point and 8th overall at the 1996 Lime Rock Fall Festival.
