History

1970 Formula 2 Crossle 19f. Extensive use in 1970 and 1971 by up and coming Irish driver Ken Fildes for Luke Duffy Racing in Dublin, fitted with a Ford FVA engine. Due to the rarity and cost of the Ford FVA, the car is now fitted with a Ford BDA engine. Car held lap records at Kirkistown, Mondello Park, Bishops Court, Ingliston and was the first car ever to average 100 mph at Aintree, the ex home of the British GP. The car also competed in the European F2 Championship at Mantorp Park in Sweeden. The car was sold at the end of the 1971 season to make way for the new Crossle 22F. The car resurfaced in 1986 in Guernsey, Channel Islands, where long time Crossle competitor, and now owner of Crossle Cars, Arnie Black spotted the car in a showroom. He purchased the car and it underwent a full restoration at the factory to the exact drwings of 1970. Arnie competed in the car with great success in the late 1980's and 1990's, winning the HSCC Racing Car Championship outright on a number of occasions. He was also a match for the leading Euro F2 Trophy competitors when they visited the UK and was a regular top 6 finisher in the series. The car was purchased by the current owner in 1999 and the car underwent a complete rebuild ready for the 2000 season. Since then the car has been used in ther Euro F2 Trophy, OCEI series and the Derek Bell HSCC Series until the end of 2002. The car has not been used since then but is on the button and ready to go.Performance Data
