Description:
This is the fastest, best prepared and maintained Lotus 61 in the world. I've owned and raced it for over ten years. It is absolutely race ready, needs only to be fueled, then "kick the tires and Light The Fires". Every system has been optimized for reliability and performance. I will explain all systems in-depth to purchase inquiries, and you will learn the (Monoposto legal) secrets of this car. This car has the best brakes of any historic formula Ford and I will teach the buyer the secrets of threshold braking. I'm 63 years old, 6 foot tall and 250 pounds. I not only fit in the car but beat almost everybody except skinny youngsters in Titans. The purchase price includes all my formula Ford spares since I plan to upgrade to a formula Continental. I had originally planned to retire from racing but my wife said "No!". Am I lucky, or not? Instead, I plan to upgrade to a Continental and try my luck with wings and ground effects.
History
Approx 160 Lotus 61's were built. I'm the 5th owner. After a one year/one thousand hour restoration in 2001 I began racing it with HMSA, HSR-W, CVAR and CSRG. (It's had three frame-off restorations since). From 2003-09 I finished 3rd or 4th every year in the HSR-W Pacific FF series, 2nd in 2009 in the "Formula Ford: the SERIES" championship, and overall champion in the HSR-W Lotus Sports Challenge every year from 2003 until the series was ended in 2009. Photo's of the car have been published in Victory Lane and Vintage Racecar magazines, and it made the cover of the May, 2010 issue of Victory Lane. The car was published on the HMSA website for a seven part frame-off restoration. The last race was the 2011 Coronado Speed Festival (Sept 24-25) where I won the "USS Ronald Reagan Cup".
