Description:
History
Run by John Macdonald, RAM Racing made several attemps in the seventies and early eighties at entering Formula 1,
admittedly without much success. It returned in 1983 with a proprietary design in the form if the RAM-March 01 presented here.
Designed by Dave Kelly, it was a straightforward car powered by a Cosworth DFV engine.
3 cars were built, driven by Eliseo Salazar, Kenny Acheson, Jonathan Palmer, Jean-Louis Schlesser and Jacques Villeneuve.
1983 was a difficult year for RAM with little success and many failures at qualifying the cars.
Best placings included a 15th in the first GP of the season, driven by Salazar, and a 12th in the last GP, driven by Acheson.
RAM persevered in 1984 and 1985 with 02 and 03 models now powered by Hart 415T turbo engines.
Lack of sponsorship in 1986 meant the end of the road for RAM. Chassis 01-2 presented here achieved its best result in the hands of Jean-Louis Schlesser,
finishing 6th overall at the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch in April 1983.
