Description:
PBS is an American engineering company out of California, who were known for their small-displacement, high-performance Fiat based engines. The DOHC 16v versions could be configured from 1100cc to 1600cc with most being 1300cc. All use the Honda 750 valve train, and FIAT X1/9 bottom ends, which allows attainable replacement parts. The DOHC engine was tested using a Mk. IV chassis and was designed to be installed in the Mk. 7 monocoque. Originally there were only 4 Mk. IV built by PBS with power plants ranging from SAAB two-stroke engines to Fiat 850, and 1300cc X1/9. This car was built as a kit by Norm Holcomb with the latter power plant as a CSR. Mr. Holcomb widened the body by 4†from the standard Mk. IV, making this a one of one from the ultimate sports racer era. SVRA log book. Only 8 hours on engine rebuild, TRE Mk. 9 transaxle with Mk. 5 gears and Quaife differential. Complete frame-up no expense spared restoration, with bonded and riveted floor pan, new aluminum panels, fresh paint, new fuel cell, gauges, battery, fuel and oil lines, AN hardware throughout, and too much more to list.
