Description:
Chasis #HU-42 was orginally purchased by Wysard Racing and entered into the 1985 Indy 500 w/Jim Crawford as a rookie. The car reportedly ran the Michigan 500 and was then sold to Darrin Brassfield as a roller where it retired. Full documentation supports the car with yearbooks, video, speedway photos, etc. The car was sold a collector in Chicago and was not run until purchased by the current owner in 2000. The car is essentially new with only four races, including Indy. Deciding the Cosworth DFX was too expensive, complicated, and spare parts limited; the car was outfitted with an original Chevy/Falconer V6 Indycar engine as developed with AJ Foyt Enterprises and Ryan Falconer for this period. The engine utilizes the orginal indycar aluminum block, splayed valved heads, cosworth dry sump/water pumps, and cast oil pan w/intergrated maincaps. In turbo form, the engine can develop over 900 hp. The installation left the car totally unmolested; with no modification to the tunnels, decklid, chasis, or suspension. A Cosworth DFX engine can drop right in, but why? The car weighs 1400 dry, 150 lbs lighter than a DFX car and has the cost and ease of maintence of a small block chevy. Handling! Handling! Handling! The 1985 Lola design incorportes the greatest gound effects of any year indycar. The car utilizes 17" polished tunnels (current indycars are 3" or less), huge wings, and is simply one of the most beautiful designs. It is the last year of the big tunnel cars and the only year which incorportated an upper carbon tub. The tub is roomy enough for a real person. The car is currently raced in USSS, HSR Boss, and VARA events. Of the 23 T-900's made less than five are know to exist. With the exception of the #1 Mario Andretti T-900 (Museum quality) the car is the finest in the world. The car has never been crashed, and is cosmetically and mechanically perfect. Low cost, simplicity (the engine has literally one electrical wire) and a huge spares package makes this a perfect entry into Indycar Vintage Racing. Track support and maintainence is available to the new owner. The car is being sold to make room for a 1996 Indycar being completed. Cosworth XB big dollars to run.
