Description:

Titan MK6 Formula Ford vintage road racing car. The history of this Titan is known from new. The first owner of this Titan was a Venezuelan, who bought the car new from Fred Opert, the U.S. East Coast Titan distributor. The car was shipped to Venezuela where it was raced for two years. In 1974, the car won the National Formula Ford Championship in Venezuela. In 1975, the driver shipped the Titan to the USA and raced it during the summer at the SCCA nationals at Charlotte, Road Atlanta, Savannah, and Summit Point. He finished second twice at Charlotte and third at Atlanta and Summit Point. During those years he was sponsored by Fred Opert Racing, who helped him with repair parts. He sold the car at the end of 1975, and it was raced in SCCA until 1980. It then sat until 1997, at that time, the car was completely refurbished and painted. The car has many original Titan special parts, including the original cast uprights, steering wheel, dashboard, pedals, oil tank and oil tank cap, radiator, fuel cell cap, motor mounts, gearshift knob, and oil filter mounting bracket. In the orginal dash, the gauges are all original including a mechanical tach with a mechanical telltale. It also has a Titan cast aluminum valve cover and Varley red top battery. It is very rare to find a Titan Mk6 today with all the small goodies still on the car. Logbooks are included with the car that cover all races for the car since and including 1975. The darker photos in the ad are from the original logbook. The car is complete and the chassis is set up as it was last raced at VIR. The engine is a 1600 cc Ford Formula Ford engine, with a Loyning prepared cylinder head and a “711” block. Also included with the car is a “C” duckbill nose, and the vertical black snorkel as used on the car when it was new. Some vintage clubs permit the use of the duckbill nose, others do not. You get both noses and both snorkels so you can choose to run the car in either “B” or “C” configuration. Comparable cars WITHOUT this car’s history sell for more, but THIS ONE IS Priced to Sell! (a great investment!)

History

In 1997 the car was completely refurbished and painted. Since then the car was only raced 12 times with SVRA, HSR, and VARAC at Summit Point, Roebling Road, Mosport, Gingerman,VIR, and Sebring competing in the MK6B Vintage configuration. Some clubs will also allow you to run the MK6C configuration as it was only bodywork changes.(which are included with the car. In the last 10 years, the car has raced a total of twelve times, with no accidents or incidents, although some spider cracks have developed in a few places in the bodywork, most notably in the engine cover. The last outing for the car was at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR) Gold Cup in June, 2005.Performance Data
